Welcome to Child Welfare Consultancy Services

Child Welfare Consultancy Services (CWCS) was established in 2009 to meet the growing demand for forensic assessment in child protection. The need for unambiguous definitions of risk was recognised, whereby assessments would not be restrained by therapeutic considerations, but would clearly identify the risk to the safety and welfare of the child, and interventions required to diminish that risk.

CWCS provide a nationwide service. We endeavour to continuously develop our services, and look to new and innovative methods of conducting child protective work. A move away from the traditional 'clinic based' interactions with clients is widely accepted as the best approach to investigative psychological assessments. Therefore, we often travel to our clients, sometimes to their homes; situating them in their environment, and obtaining valuable information on their day to day experiences.

Child Welfare Consultancy Services advocates a multidisciplinary and interagency approach to child protection with professional input from psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, family therapists, and play therapists.
